  • Cardiff University Professional development project 2018-19 Staff have been participating in a bespoke training programme with Cardiff University to develop teaching and learning at Albany.

Cardiff University: Professional Learning and Educative Mentoring Programme

Cardiff University academics Emmajane Milton and Dr Alex Morgan have worked with Albany Road Primary School in Cardiff on a whole school approach to professional learning and educative mentoring with a view to supporting staff to consider ways of improving the learning experiences for their pupils.

  • Year 3 pupils on ITV Wales - Geraint Thomas Celebration Children in year 3 have been participating in a project with some other local schools and Maindy Flyers cycling club to celebrate Geraint Thomas' achievement in winning the Tour De France last year. They have been working with artist Sion Owen at 'CreaSion' to create huge boards to surround the cycle track at Maindy. The children have created over 350 pieces of artwork for the murals. Today they also performed some music at the event. It was featured on ITV Wales news.

Albany Military Hospital Exhibition 2015

In the Summer of 2013 Albany's cricket club were lucky enough to participate in the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions trophy in the Swalec Stadium, Cardiff. We were very fortunate to be invited back to lead out the Sri Lanka and India teams ahead of their Semi final match. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children and even made the front page of the India Today news website.

Microsoft 'Hole in the World' project. British Lions in Australia 2013. Pupils from Albany met Martyn Williams and spoke to Michael Lynagh from Queen Street. He was even given a rendition of 'Albany Can do it'.

  • Year 6 pupils learning to be lifesavers at the Millennium Stadium. St Johns Ambulance provided a fantastic first aid training day for year 6. We had the opportunity to watch Wales train on the pitch and also met Scott Quinnell and Roy Noble.
