COVID-19 - Coronavirus Updates
We will aim to update you with any relevant information here. This will include guidance, news updates & policies relating to home learning. The childrens home learning activities will be in the Children's section of the website on the 'Class pages'. If you are unsure which class your child is in please look at the 'Who's who 2019-20' page on the school website.
Home Learning Plans
Below you will find our school closure policy which shows you how we intend on supporting the children's learning during any school closure. We are in a very unusual situation and have been working to put activities and resources together for your children. We are also trying to signpost you to different learning activities that may benefit your children. The policy shows what activities will be published on your child's class page each week.
Your child will be sent home with a learning pack today which will include some learning resources, exercise books, pencil, pen, ruler & additional reading books to ensure the activities are accessible. If you have a computer/tablet there will also be digital learning opportunities available to you as we move forward. Your child's class teacher will also be sending each pupil an email to their Hwb accounts which will mean that your child/you as parent can make contact if required. These communications will be focussed on learning activities only.
You may have already seen the news this morning that schools will still be providing support for families of key workers. If you believe that you are on the ‘key worker’ list please contact the school office so we can begin to put this information together for our school. We will share further information as we receive it. If you believe you are in this category please contact me on HowlettW@Hwbcymru.net This email has been set up specifically for enquiries about provision
You can find more detailed information related to key workers and vulnerable learners in the Ministers statement here;
FREE SCHOOL MEALS WILL STILL BE PROVIDED
For families who are entitled to Free school meals there will be a packed lunch available at the school every day next week. We will call you on Monday morning to arrange a pick up time as we do not want large groups of people at the school at any one time. In the coming weeks if you are worried about food poverty of financial difficulties please contact the school on email@example.com or me on HowlettW@Hwbcymru.net We will do our best to support our community in any way we can. Mr H
Free School Meal provision will be changing to a voucher scheme from Monday 6 April and will be extended to cover what would have been the two week school Easter holiday period.
The voucher scheme will replace the grab bag packed lunches which have been delivered to schools since Monday 23 March.
Parents and carers of children currently receiving Free School Meals will be sent a downloadable voucher to the value of £40 for the benefit of their eligible child or children which can be spent in one of the following supermarkets:
Arrangements for Free School Meals following the Easter break will be communicated in due course.
Families who are eligible will receive a letter with details of the voucher directly from the Council, in the next few days. See a copy of the letter here;

DIGITAL SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES - May 1st 2020
Please see this quote from the Welsh Education Minister - ‘No child or family should be left behind because they don’t have access to technology. 💻 Today, I’m pleased to announce £3m to support learners who don’t have access to an electronic device or the internet at home’.
Thank you to those that completed the Schoop survey last week. If you did not complete the survey and your children do not have access to devices or internet at home please email HowlettW@Hwbcymru.net to inform school.
In addition to this teachers will be asking about I.T equipment at home in their phonecalls. If you have not received a phone call since the school closure it is possible that we don’t have an up to date number. We already have some devices available that school can loan out to support home learning. Firstly they will be loaned to families with no device available for home learning. Please email HowlettW@Hwbcymru.net for further information or to update contact information.Best wishes. Mr H
