Children in Years 2 to 6 now take national tests in reading and numeracy.

Our pupils will be taking their tests between 7th-14th May 2019. It is really important that your child is in school to take the tests.

Numeracy:

There are two kinds of numeracy assessments.

  1. The procedural measures skills in number, measuring and data skills. This takes the form of a personalised assessment rather than a written test as in previous years. The children complete this assessment online using their Hwb account and can be completed at any time during the year. It is tailored to meet the needs of each individual pupil. This document provides further  information on this;

2. The reasoning test measures how well children can use what they know to solve everyday numeracy problems.

Reading:

The reading tests are made up of short questions based on two or more texts. Some of the questions check how well the text has been understood, others aim to find out if children are able to make judgements about what they are reading.
