On Friday 14th February we celebrated International Mother Language day. At Albany we currently have 50 different languages spoken across our school community and we felt it was really important to recognise and celebrate this. The children were challenged to learn an extract from our school prayer in their home language and dressed in national costumes to represent their home countries. We held a special assembly and had a special message from Sally Holland, the Children’s Commissioner for Wales to start the assembly. The children then rose to the challenge and said our school prayer in 31 different languages. As a school we are very proud of our rich and diverse community and this day provided us with an amazing opportunity to celebrate this. In the words of our school song - ALBANY CAN DO IT!
