We are really excited about the re-development of our school library. Mr Howlett had the opportunity to visit a number of schools in Finland in November and learn about the successful education system in the country. One of the things that really stood out was the quality of learning environments and flexible spaces for children to learn in.
The school council have have carried out some research on how children like to learn in Albany as part of the process of designing our new curriculum. One of the key findings was that the children like quiet areas to concentrate and to not always be sat at tables and chairs whilst working. Following this we have decided to renovate our library to create a flexible and comfortable learning area for our pupils. The children have been challenged to come up with a name for the new room. We are hoping that this work will be completed over the Easter Holidays. We hope that the children will see this as a really exciting area to learn and collaborate with their peers. We will keep you updated with photos as the changes are made.
