This term our topic is 'Pets'

 

Topic Overview

 

This project has both a knowledge and understanding and creativity focus:

 

Throughout this topic the children will learn about:

  • Animals that are kept as pets,, including how to care for various pets
  • Body parts
  • Animal care, including organisations and charities that provide animal welfare
  • How to create 3D forms using modelling materials
  • How to record their ideas and creativity
  • How to sequence movements to sound and music
  • Comparing and ordering lengths
  • The role of a vet

 

Literacy

  • We have learnt many letter sounds already, so this term will have a focus on correct letter formation
  • To develop confidence when sounding out and writing CVC words (consonant - vowel - consonant ) words e.g. c-a-t,   p-i-n
  • To identify some High Frequency Words (HFW) and tricky words
  • To speak clearly, thinking about what is being spoken about
  • We will be sharing some helpful hints when supporting your child reading.

 

Numeracy

  • To count backwards from 10
  • To identify certain coins (1p, 2p, 5p and 10p)
  • To identify 3D shapes
  • To develop confidence when working with numbers to 10
  • To add two amounts together
  • To give an estimate of a group of objects
  • To develop confidence when working with measure.

 

Whilst the children are learning from home, work will be set on Seesaw daily. The children will also be allocated two new reading books each week on Rising Stars.
